Coffee roasting is very much like painting. There are many ways to do it - this course covers the basics of roasting, specifically Nordic roasting: a style that started approximately 20 years ago, Nordic roasting has since gained popularity outside the Scandinavian region.
Patrik, who has been roasting in the Nordic style for 10+ years, controls numerous variables such as the green coffee, batch size, burner setting, start temperature, in-between protocol etc. even before roasting.
When roasting, he uses the exhaust or environment temperature rather than the initial bean temperature or rate of rise to gain more context.
How do you build a profile for an unfamiliar green bean?
How can you produce an even roast through multiple batches?

Most roasters express difficulty with these two topics, as learning and implementing can be two different things.
This course explains the reason behind the logic and aims to provide a toolbox to apply to different coffees in different formats.
Additionally, the course has several advantages compared to the traditional offline seminars.

Roasting more than 40 tons of coffee in a year and no compromise on quality, Patrik focuses on all aspects of roasting with attention to detail.
With coffee, he has one goal: making the best cup of coffee. Every decision, including the Nordic roasting style and working with the Volcán Azul farm in Costa Rica for 6 seasons and counting, is based on this goal. His track record both in the World Barista Championship and World Brewers Cup sheds light on his successful execution.
Patrik's goal and belief are also prominent throughout this roasting course. The roasting course will provide new roasters with a guideline and seasoned roasters with a different viewpoint.
